LibrePower: A Community-Driven Renaissance for IBM Power
Monday June 15, 2026 10:30 - 11:30 CEST
Beyond traditional workloads—IBM Power has capabilities the market hasn't fully discovered. LibrePower is changing that. Our community initiative runs a live lab where we validate and document new use cases: container density, modern development with Go and Rust, open source databases, AI inference, and more—across AIX, IBM i, and your favorite Linux distro. We publish technical content in different languages, building the independent validation that helps organizations confidently deploy new workloads on Power. In this session, we'll share practical results from our experiments, demonstrate the LibrePower Certified program for open source projects, and explain why "invest once, run for fifteen years" is the TCO message Power deserves.Whether you manage existing Power8/9 systems or evaluate new Power10/11 investments, discover how open source extends the value—and the possibilities—of exceptional hardware.

Serverless architecture and RPG?
Monday June 15, 2026 11:50 - 12:50 CEST
It sounds like an oxymoron - serverless architecture is normally said in conjunction with frameworks like FastAPI in Python, Spring-boot in Java or LoopBack in Node.JS. But what about RPG? Can you leverage the same features in ILE? – of course you can! The ILEastic framework was made exactly to be a player in the world of microservices and serverless architecture – and even better: it is 100% open source. If you need to modernize your RPG code and make it available as services on the web – If microservices is a business strategy or just curious about tools like yum, git and gmake?  – then this session is for you.

A Wishlist for the Future of IBM's Unix Beyond 2040
Monday June 15, 2026 14:00 - 15:00 CEST
What would AIX need to remain a compelling platform for the next two decades? This session is not an official roadmap—it's a technical wishlist from someone who has worked with AIX for over 20 years and wants to see it thrive. Consider it a letter to the Magi, or to IBM's AIX product management. We'll explore practical modernization paths: native package management that doesn't require sacrifices to ancient gods, first-class support for modern languages (good news: Rust and Go already work great—so why not make it official?), container tooling options, and open source integration that makes AIX attractive for new workloads—not just legacy migrations.Drawing from real experiments at the LibrePower lab (aix.librepower.org), we'll share what's possible today, what's frustratingly close, and what would transform AIX from "the system we maintain" into "the system we choose." Topics include: modern CLI tooling, security utilities, compilation wins and challenges, and the open source packages AIX desperately needs. This is a community discussion, not a vendor pitch. Bring your own wishes—and your honest frustrations. Let's draft that letter together.Opinions expressed are personal views of Hugo Blanco, not official IBM positions.

Thinkwise: From RPG to AI-ready: on IBM i
Monday June 15, 2026 15:10 - 15:35 CEST
In this session, Victor Klaren shows a new approach to RPG modernization: one that builds on the strength of IBM i.

Using the Thinkwise AI-Upcycler, RPG code is analyzed and automatically transformed into a modern application on the Thinkwise Platform. While IBM i and Db2 remain fully in place.

You’ll see how at least 90% of an RPG application can be converted in a single step: including data, business rules and process flows.

But modernization is only the starting point. We’ll show how this creates a foundation for what’s next: integrating with modern architectures, exposing functionality through APIs, and enabling new interaction patterns such as MCP and agentic AI.

How to Validate and Control AI Uncertainty from BOB or Any LLM for Reliable Business Outcomes
Monday June 15, 2026 17:05 - 18:05 CEST
Artificial Intelligence, by nature, is probabilistic. Even in narrow tolerance bands, AI models can generate varying results for the same inputs — not due to bugs, but because of the statistical nature of learning.

While this flexibility allows AI to deal with complex problems, it also introduces uncertainty — a dangerous liability in high-stakes business contexts. In using Project BOB or any LLM to modernize or transform code you can get mistakes, bugs or hallucinations in the new code, and sometimes those errors can be very tricky to be identified and corrected, it could be like looking for a needle in a haystack. I

n this session, we will see which methodologies to adopt to master these problems, to control any AI mistakes and also to influence and guide AI to fix and avoid them.

Protecting Db2 for i Data with Row and Column Access Control (RCAC)
Monday June 15, 2026 17:05 - 18:05 CEST
Data is the new currency, and protecting it is more important than ever. In IBM i environments, safeguarding sensitive information at the database level is a key requirement for compliance, risk reduction, long-term application trust and data consitency. With traditional database methods and additional programming, data access can be restricted, but also circumvented! Db2 for i provides powerful, built-in capabilities for fine-grained security through Row and Column Access Control (RCAC), enabling precise control over which data can be seen and by whom (on user profile and group profile level) —without requiring changes to application code.If RCAC is activated only explicitly registered users can see an access the database data. Even powerful profiles with QSECOFR user classe or *ALLOBJ authority cannot see any data if they are not registered.Since the implemented RCAC rules cannot be circumvented (not even by powerful user profiles) an detailed planning is required, so no data will get lost
